“ Mouth watering authentic Jamaican cuisine in the heart of Bowmanville! We have lived in Courtice for over 3 years and had never tried Starapples until today and am I ever glad I did! I was running errands and decided to take out a jerk chicken dinner and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. The rice and peas and coleslaw were great too and the garnish on the chicken and the plantain slice was a nice touch. The gravy on the rice was key. Everything was great! Compliments to the chef and friendly staff. I will 100% be a regular from here on out. Well done! ”

“ I recently checked out Starapples Restaurant during their monthly brunch event. The whole experience from the moment we stepped through the door was fabulous! The servers were very friendly, accommodating, and added so much joy to the experience. The DJ during their brunch event was amazing. The art and decor in the restaurant creates a really colourful and relaxing atmosphere The food was a delicious take on some very traditional dishes and they have some unique creations too. The Ackee and Callalloo tasted fresh and well seasoned. Everything from their Tru Juice to their porridge to their bread pudding will have you coming back for more! I personally can't wait to go back and check out their dinner menu. ”

“ This was a one off for me. I've been searching for the best Jamaican food I can find and recently tried a place down the road from here and was not impressed. Walked up a bit and found this gem. Staff are spot on, the atmosphere was amazing. Music took me back to my childhood and the pattie on coco bread I as so amazing. I love an hour and a half away and will be back regularly for food. Will be trying the rest of the menu for date night coming up soon. Absolutely fantastic spot. Thank you for bringing me back with good music and fantastic food and service. ”

“ We drove all the way from London to try this restaurant. It was well worth the drive. I think I am obsessed with Jamaican food now. The salty fish fritters are crunchy on the outside and soft/spongy on the inside. It pairs beautifully with a sweet/tangy sauce. The oxtail & rice and beans was my favourite. Rich flavour profile with tender and juicy beef. Chef’s kiss. The jerk chicken is the best I have ever had in . Well seasoned and the meat is still succulent after BBQ.The festival which is a type of deep fried sweet bread is like nothing I have had before. I honestly enjoyed my meal very much. “ I recently had the chance to dine at this amazing Jamaican restaurant, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The music was on point, with a perfect blend of classic Jamaican vibes that set the tone for a fantastic evening. The ambiance was really nice, with good vibes all around, and I was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the place was. The decorations were also really cool and interesting, totally on theme with the Jamaican vibe - it felt like a little slice of Jamaica right here. Our waitress was super cute and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. But the real star of the show was the food. The menu took traditional Jamaican flavors and gave them a contemporary twist, with some really interesting plays on regular appetizers. The plantain bruschetta was a standout - imagine bruschetta mix on top of crispy fried plantains, and you'll get an idea of just how delicious it was. We also tried the Jerk Taco trio, which was a fun take on traditional jerk flavors in taco form, and the saltfish fritters, which were cooked to perfection. Every bite was full of flavor, and it was clear that the chefs had put a lot of thought into each dish. To wash it all down, the cocktails were creative and fun, adding to the overall great experience. “ Found this beautiful little gem while my friends and I were on our way back from a meeting and we all just felt for some Jamaican food. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, the ambiance was screaming mello Jamaica, so relaxed and welcoming. Also, the music added to the experience with consistent reggae music. We were greeted by Kristy who did her very best to ensure we were well taken care of all throughout our dining experience. Last but not least, the food was excitingly delicious, literally everything was on point; from the curry gravy, the pickle, the plantain, the saltfish fritters, the rice and peas, the fish and the jerk pork. I will definitely return. I highly recommend that you visit and have your own amazing experience. Side note: I get worried when I go to a Jamaican restaurant and receive great customer service because usually the food doesn't taste good/authentic, IYKYK. But they changed my perception, this is the first and only Jamaican restaurant that sells delicious food and provide great service with a beautiful ambiance. ”
